.223 Wylde

This chamber has the same external dimensions and leade angle as the 5.56 NATO, but the leade diameter is the same as the .223 Remington. This design allows for a tight gas seal and controlled expansion, while still providing enough space for hotter 5.56 loads. The .223 Wylde chamber is designed to be accurate with both .223 and 5.56 ammunition.

This cartridge is safe to shoot in any chamber, including .223 Wylde and 5.56 NATO.

Here are some other things to keep in mind:

5.56 NATO ammunition should only be shot in a 5.56 NATO or .223 Wylde chamber.
The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute recommends against firing 5.56 ammunition in a rifle intended for .223.
